الأسئلة الشائعة

7 أسئلة شائعة

The purpose of the Reynolds Avenue Substation and Distribution Upgrades is to build a new substation in Rehoboth and to strengthen our electric distribution system to serve our customers more reliably.

Substation construction will include deliveries of equipment to and from the site located on Reynolds Avenue. Crews are installing foundations and new electrical equipment with the new substation footprint. In addition, crews will be installing new equipment including poles and wires throughout the Rehoboth area. Most of the work will be performed along public roadways utilizing local police details and lane restrictions to help ensure the safety of our crews and the general public.

There will be limited power outages associated with this work. You will be notified well in advance of any planned outages that may impact your service. You may notice that the old poles will remain for a period of time following completion of work. National Grid coordinates closely with other local utilities to transfer their assets from the old pole to the new pole.

Once all the transfers have occurred, the old poles can safely be removed.

While the substation construction will occur on land near National Grid’s transmission right-of-way on Reynolds Avenue, most of the work will occur along the public roadway. The work areas where crews will be most noticeable include but are not limited to:

Reynolds Avenue, Peck Street, North Street, Chestnut Street, Fairview Avenue, New Street, Winthrop Street (Rt.44), Anawan Street (Rt.118), Bay State Road (Rt.118), Moulton Street (Rt.118), and Summer Street.

The project is needed to accommodate system capacity issues identified in the Attleboro, Dighton, Norton, Rehoboth, and Seekonk, Massachusetts areas. The new substation and distribution network will improve electric reliability in the area.

Construction of the new substation began in the Spring of 2020 and is expected to be complete in the Summer of 2023. Electric distribution line upgrades began in the Spring of 2022 and is expected to be complete in the Fall of 2026.
