The existing Lawrence #2 substation is an indoor substation that has been in operation since the 1920’s. The building and much of the station equipment is nearing the end of life, therefore a substation rebuild is needed to ensure electric reliability. The work completed on this project will enable us to support future electrical needs and to continue serving thousands of customers in the area.
Work associated with the new substation will begin in September of 2024 and continue through 2026. Work associated with demolition and removal of the existing substation will begin in 2027 and be completed in 2027. The precast screen wall around the perimeter of the property will be constructed and completed in 2028.
