Initiative

At National Grid, the Indigenous Peoples Initiative shows our commitment to building strong and respectful relationships with Indigenous communities in the areas we serve. We recognize the deep cultural, historical, and environmental ties Indigenous Peoples have with the land, and we are dedicated to working in ways that respect and honor those connections.

This initiative focuses on listening, learning, and working together with Indigenous communities to create new opportunities, improve access to resources, and support long‑term success for everyone involved. We believe that showing up, listening carefully, and following through are key to building trust.

Program Overview

The Indigenous Peoples Initiative brings together efforts across National Grid to support and partner more effectively with Indigenous communities. We collaborate with Tribal Nations, Indigenous organizations, and community members to increase access to jobs, education, energy programs, and other helpful resources.

Our work is based on building genuine relationships. That means listening to community needs, sharing openly, and working together to find solutions that fit both community goals and our role as an energy company.

We are also focused on raising awareness—both within our company and in the communities we serve—so that more people can learn about and use the programs, support, and opportunities available to them.

This work is ongoing. As we continue to learn and grow, we remain committed to being a trusted partner and making a positive, lasting difference in the communities we serve.
