About the Project
The S145E/T146E Asset Condition Replacement and OPGW Installation Project will replace older overhead transmission structures along an 8-mile area between Wakefield and Salem. Both the S and T lines begin at the Wakefield Junction Substation and end at the Canal Street Substation in Salem. Each line is about 8.3 miles long and runs side by side through the towns of Wakefield, Lynn, Peabody, and Salem.

Installing optical ground wire (OPGW) and replacing older wooden structures will improve the flow of electricity and help National Grid provide more reliable service to northern Boston.
